Default List - Content Section doesn't display if more than one category

This is an old, old bug and it's happening with a fresh install of 4.5.1a! When I create a menu item - list content section - it displays fine if I only have one category. If I have more than one category, it displays *nothing*.

-all sections, categories, items are published
-all have information in them
-I'm using IE

Any ideas?
